More images of the NIO (NYSE: NIO) ET5 touring have been revealed, as the model gets closer to its official launch.

Auto blogger Delu shared several images of the model on the NIO App today, saying that NIO is filming promotional videos for the model in Norway.

"This is one of the top three touring models in my mind, they are the Volvo V60, Audi RS6 and now the ET5 Touring," the blogger wrote.

On May 9, CnEVPost obtained two spy photos of the ET5 touring appearing on the streets of Europe, showing that the car has the yellow color exclusive to the ET5 sedan sold in China.

CnEVPost has learned from a source is that the model is expected to make its official debut in Europe in June.

In January, NIO co-founder and president Qin Lihong said the company would launch the ET5 touring, a sister model of the ET5, in June or July.

That new variant of the ET5 will debut in Europe, where the model was developed primarily for European consumers, Qin said at the time.

Such models have a large market in Europe, while sales of sedans are low, which is the opposite of the situation in China, Qin said at the January event.

"Derivatives of sedans are a niche market in China, but the opposite is true in Europe. We don't see many real sedans in Europe," he said at the time.

In early March, the ET5 touring appeared on a filing list from Chinese industry regulators and its key specifications were revealed.

The NIO ET5 touring has a length, width and height of 4,790 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,499 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,888 mm, in line with the ET5 sedan.

It will be equipped with dual motors produced by NIO's electric drive systems division in Hefei, Anhui province, with a maximum power of 150 kW and 210 kW, respectively, and can support a top speed of 200 km/h.

As with several other NIO models based on the NT 2.0 platform, the NIO ET5 touring supports the option of a retractable electric tow hook, which can tow a maximum of 1,400 kg of caravan weight.

NIO partners with Norwegian smart energy provider Tibber to deliver better charging experience in Europe

NIO's (NYSE: NIO) vehicles support charging just like any other electric vehicle (EV), in addition to having access to a fully charged battery via battery swap. Now the Chinese EV maker has entered into a new partnership in Europe to make the charging experience better.

NIO has partnered with Norwegian smart energy provider Tibber to give European owners access to some of the benefits the latter offers, according to an article published yesterday in the European version of the NIO App.

NIO customers in Norway, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands who have a dynamic power contract with Tibber can easily connect their NIO vehicles to Tibber's app, the article said.

Tibber offers a range of services, including the Tibber App, that let customers track their energy use, find real-time energy prices and control the charging of their electric vehicles -- at best, when electricity prices are at their lowest, according to the article.

Smart charging with Tibber can be used with any wallbox, such as NIO's Power Home 3.0, the article said.

"Once you set up the 'Smart Charging' feature within the Tibber App, your NIO will be charged fully automatically exactly in the hours when the electricity is cheapest," the article reads.

Tibber was founded in 2016 and focuses on using technology to help customers save energy and money.

The partnership with Tibber is the latest NIO partnership in Europe related to EV energy replenishment.

Last December 8, EnBW, Germany's largest fast-charging network operator, announced that it had entered into a partnership with NIO in which the EV maker would build up to 20 battery swap stations at its charging parks.

NIO entered Norway in 2021 and last October expanded its presence in Europe to include Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark.

NIO introduced the ET7, EL7 and ET5 to European consumers at the NIO Berlin launch event on October 7. The EL7 is known as the ES7 in China and was renamed in Europe due to a lawsuit with Audi.

Deliveries of the ET7 started in Europe as planned in October last year, with deliveries of the EL7 starting at the end of January. The planned start date for deliveries of the ET5, announced by NIO in October last year, is the end of March.

There is no more information about the ET5 in Europe, including how many units of the electric sedan NIO has sent there.

For NIO, the ET5 has been its main seller in China for the past three months.

ET5 deliveries from December to February were 7,594, 5,795 and 6,471 units, contributing 48 percent, 68 percent and 53 percent of NIO's monthly deliveries, respectively, according to data from the company and the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) monitored by CnEVPost.

The ET5 ranked No. 7 in February in the ranking of high-end sedan sales in China with a starting price above RMB 300,000 ($43,440), according to the CPCA's list released on March 9.

The ranking dropped one spot from January, as the previously No. 7 Audi A4L outsold the ET5 with 6,935 units in February.
