Neta Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Hozon Auto, has begun deliveries of its electric sports car Neta GT, less than a month after the model's official launch, to capitalize on the initial hype.

Neta held a delivery ceremony in Shanghai on May 13 to deliver the first Neta GT EVs to owners, it announced on May 14.

Notably, the two-door, four-seat Neta GT electric sports car was only officially launched on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, with starting prices of RMB 178,800 ($25,700) to 227,800.

Neta's move to have the Neta GT begin deliveries within a month of its launch demonstrates the desire of EV makers to capture initial consumer enthusiasm and avoid losing potential orders in the increasingly competitive Chinese EV market.

The fact that Neta GT deliveries began shortly after launch validates the company's comprehensive strengths in vehicle development and design, manufacturing, and channel building, Neta said.

Neta has been seen as a budget EV maker since its inception, as its vehicles are priced primarily at the lower end of the market, with previous mainstay models Neta V and Neta U priced at around RMB 100,000 to RMB 150,000 in China.

The Neta S is Neta's first effort in the high-end market, priced at around RMB 300,000, and the launch of the Neta GT is expected to further start changing the brand's low-end perception among consumers.

The Neta GT is Neta's second model based on the Shanhai platform after the flagship sedan Neta S. It measures 4,715 mm in length, 1,979 mm in width and 1,415 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

In addition to the Neta GT, Neta also gave a debut to a model called Neta GT Speedster, a convertible based on the Neta GT, at the Shanghai auto show.

Regulatory filing: MG’s electric roadster Cyberster not far from launch in China

MG's electric roadster Cyberster is not far from being available in China after the model made its debut at the Shanghai auto show two years ago.

The arrival of the electric vehicle (EV) era has led to many models that feel fresh in China, and an electric roadster from MG is the latest one.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the latest batch of models that will soon be allowed to be sold in a catalog for public comment on April 11, and MG's Cyberster was included.

Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process for a model to be allowed to be sold in China. The public can submit feedback between April 12 and April 18.

MG has filed three versions for the Cyberster, including two single-motor versions as well as a dual-motor version.

The MG Cyberster is a two-seater with a length of 4,535 mm, a width of 1,913 mm, a height of 1,329 mm and a wheelbase of 2,690 mm.

Both single-motor versions are equipped with rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors, the lower version with 231 kW peak power and the other with 250 kW peak power, both supporting a top speed of 193 km/h.

The dual-motor version is equipped with two permanent magnet synchronous motors with peak power of 150 kW and 250 kW, respectively, and supports a top speed of 200 km/h.

The MG Cyberster is powered by ternary lithium-ion batteries from a joint venture between SAIC and .

It is worth noting that the MG Cyberster was first unveiled two years ago on the first day of the Shanghai auto show -- April 19, 2021 -- based on the MG cyber cube platform.

MG conducted a crowdfunding campaign for the roadster at the time, and then confirmed that the model would be mass-produced after the crowdfunding amount reached RMB 50 million.

The official release date and price information for the model are currently unknown.

MG, short for Morris Garages, is a vehicle brand owned by Shanghai-based SAIC Motor Corporation.

Neta Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) brand owned by Hozon Auto, has unveiled its first electric sports car, with deliveries expected to begin in the first half of the year.

Neta officially unveiled the Neta GT, a two-door, four-seat all-electric sports car that is its second model based on the Shanhai platform after its flagship sedan, the Neta S, at a launch event on the night of April 4.

The EV maker mentioned the name Neta E when it previewed the sports car late last year, but a month ago, it made the model's name official with the Neta GT.

The electric sports car measures 4,715 mm in length, 1,979 mm in width and 1,415 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

For comparison, the Neta S measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm.

The Neta GT will be available in single-motor and dual-motor versions, with the single-motor version having a maximum motor power of 170 kW and the dual-motor version having a maximum total power of 340 kW, as indicated by a previous regulatory filing.

Its power battery suppliers include CATL and Eve Energy, and the battery types include lithium iron phosphate batteries as well as ternary batteries.

Neta GT's battery pack has three options of 64.24 kWh, 74.48 kWh and 77.9 kWh, and the CLTC range includes 560 km, 580 km and 660 km.

Neta did not announce the official launch and delivery dates of the Neta GT, but last December 16, Hozon Auto CEO Zhang Yong said on Weibo that the model will be mass-produced and delivered in the first half of 2023.

Pricing information for the Neta GT is unknown, though Zhang previously said that the model would be the first true sports car that young people in China could own, suggesting that its price will likely be affordable.

The current starting price range for the Neta S flagship sedan is RMB 242,800 to RMB 341,800.

Neta is seen as a budget EV maker in China, as its vehicles are priced primarily for the lower end of the market, and the Neta S is its first effort at the premium end of the market.

Neta delivered 10,087 vehicles in March, essentially unchanged from 10,073 in February and down 16.12 percent from 12,026 in the same month last year, the company's previously announced figures show.

The Neta S delivered 2,206 units in March, up 8 percent from 2,048 units in February. A total of 4,793 units of the Neta V and 3,088 units of the Neta U were delivered in March.
