Neta has launched two new variants of the Neta S with a shorter range and weaker performance, bringing the starting price of its flagship sedan down to under RMB 200,000.

Price cuts are tricky in China's electric vehicle (EV) market, as they can spark protests from existing owners. So, launching lower-priced versions based on existing models has become one option for EV makers that need to boost sales.

Neta Auto, the EV brand owned by Hozon Auto, today launched two new variants of its flagship sedan, the Neta S, bringing the model's starting price down by 13,000 yuan ($1,880) to under RMB 200,000.

The new variants -- the all-electric Neta S 520 Lite and Neta S 520 -- start at RMB 189,800 and RMB 199,800 respectively.

As a comparison, the least expensive version of the Neta S previously on sale was a model with extended-range technology, starting at RMB 202,800.

The lowest-priced version of the pure electric Neta S was previously available in a version with a CLTC range of 715 km, starting at RMB 248,800.

The Neta S 520 Lite and Neta S 520 both have a CLTC range of 520 km and use a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 64.46 kWh.

These lower-priced Neta S BEVs can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

For comparison, the least expensive Neta S BEV with a range of 715 km uses a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 84.50 kWh and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

The Neta S 520 Lite and Neta S 520 are also weaker than the previously available Neta S BEV in some other specifications, such as the absence of a hands-free power tailgate.

Neta has been considered a budget EV maker since its inception, as its vehicles are priced primarily at the lower end of the market, with the Neta V and Neta U priced at around RMB 100,000 to RMB 150,000.

The Neta S is its first effort at the premium end of the market, officially launched in China on July 31, 2022.

Neta delivered 11,080 vehicles in April, up 25.72 percent from 8,813 in the same month last year and up 9.84 percent from 10,087 in March, according to data released earlier this month.

Neta S delivered 2,237 units in April, up 1.41 percent from 2,206 units in March.

In January-April, Neta delivered 37,256 vehicles, down 4.39 percent from 38,965 in the same period last year.

The Neta S delivered 8,008 units in January-April, for a cumulative total of 10,213 units since deliveries began last October, data monitored by CnEVPost show.

Insurance registrations for week ending Apr 30: Tesla 11,500, Li Auto 8,100, NIO 2,600

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) today shared sales figures for the major new car makers as well as luxury car companies in China for the last week of April, which is worth a look, even though many automakers have already announced deliveries for last month.

For the week ending April 24 to April 30, Li Auto sold 8,100 units, far more than any other new carmaker brand, it said today on Weibo.

Li Auto continues to be in the top five luxury brands selling in China, the highest-ranking Chinese brand on the list, outpacing other traditional luxury brands besides Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi in weekly sales, it said.

Li L7 delivered more than 10,000 units in its first full delivery month, making it one of the preferred luxury five-seat SUVs for more families, Li Auto said.

Li Auto didn't specify what statistic that sales figure was based on, though apparently it was insurance registrations. Its figures for the first three weeks of April were 7,200, 6,300 and 4,177.

Previously, we had access to those numbers every Tuesday, and it was Li Auto's practice to share some of them later to show off that it was leading the pack among car-making newcomers.

The major third-party providers of Chinese auto insurance registrations data, as well as Weibo bloggers, stopped sharing them in April, though Li Auto continues to share some of them.

Li Auto delivered 25,681 vehicles in April, another monthly high while surpassing the 20,000-delivery mark for the second consecutive month, according to data it released on May 1.

The US electric vehicle maker sold 75,842 China-made vehicles in April, including exports, according to data released earlier today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The sales include sales in China as well as exports, and the breakdown is expected to be available in the coming days.

NIO (NYSE: NIO) sold 2,600 units last week, according to Li Auto. The company sold 2,000, 700 and 1,316 units in the first three weeks of April, according to the previous data.

NIO's deliveries in April fell further to 6,658 units, as its product switchover continues, according to data released on May 1.

(NYSE: XPEV) saw sales of 2,500 units last week. It sold 1,900, 1,300 and 904 units in the first three weeks of April.

XPeng delivered 7,079 vehicles in April, down 21.36 percent from 9,002 a year ago, but up 1.1 percent from 7,002 in March.

Among the luxury brands, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi had the highest sales last week with 19,400, 15,700 and 14,500 respectively, according to data shared by Li Auto.

Neta Auto, Hozon Auto's electric vehicle (EV) brand, delivered 11,080 vehicles in April, the third consecutive month of more than 10,000 vehicles, according to data released today.

That's up 25.72 percent from 8,813 vehicles in the same month last year and up 9.84 percent from 10,087 vehicles in March.

Neta's flagship sedan, the Neta S, delivered 2,237 units in April, up 1.41 percent from 2,206 units in March.

In January-April, Neta delivered 37,256 vehicles, down 4.39 percent from 38,965 in the same period last year.

Neta S delivered 8,008 units in January-April and 10,213 units in total since deliveries began in October last year, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

Neta has been seen as a budget EV maker since its inception, as its vehicles are priced primarily at the lower end of the market, with the Neta V and Neta U priced at around RMB 100,000 ($14,470) to RMB 150,000.

The Neta S, its first effort at the premium end of the market, officially launched in China on July 31, 2022, with a current starting price range of RMB 202,800 to RMB 341,800.

On the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, Neta officially launched the Neta GT sports car with a starting price of RMB 178,800 to 227,800.

Neta is targeting sales of 300,000 units in 2023, local media China Securities Journal reported on February 7.

The EV maker has sales of 152,073 units in 2022, up 118 percent year-on-year, including 3,456 units delivered overseas, according to data it previously announced.

Insurance registrations for week ending Apr 23: Tesla 10,300, Li Auto 7,200, NIO 2,000

NIO sold 2,000 units last week, up from 700 the week before and 1,316 in the first week of April.

(NASDAQ: LI) maintained strong sales last week, and NIO (NYSE: NIO) saw a significant rebound, the latest data show.

With 7,200 units sold in the week ending April 23, Li Auto far outpaced other new car-making brands, the automaker said today on Weibo.

With deliveries of the Air versions of the Li L8 and Li L7, Li Auto's weekly sales hit another record high, it said.

Li Auto didn't specify what statistic that sales figure was based on, though apparently, it was insurance registrations. Previously, we had access to those numbers every Tuesday, and Li Auto's practice was to share some of them on Wednesdays.

The main third-party agencies and Weibo bloggers that provide data on auto insurance registrations in China stopped sharing the data this month, but Li Auto continues to share some of it.

This is the first time Li Auto has shared those numbers on a Tuesday, though they weren't taken down to single digits.

NIO sold 2,000 units last week, up from 700 the week before and 1,316 in the first week of April.

(NYSE: XPEV) sold 1,900 units last week, up from 1,300 units and 904 units in the previous two weeks.

Neta GT sports car officially launched, priced from $26,000

Deliveries of the Neta GT will begin in the first half of the year, and are expected to allow consumers to gradually begin to change the perception of the brand as low-end.

Neta Auto, the electric vehicle brand of Hozon Auto, is making its first electric sports car available, with deliveries to begin in the next two months.

The Neta GT sports car was officially launched on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, with starting prices of RMB 178,800 ($26,000) to 227,800.

The car measures 4,715 mm in length, 1,979 mm in width and 1,415 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

For comparison, Neta's flagship sedan, the Neta S, measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, 1,450 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,980 mm. The Neta S currently has a starting price range of RMB 242,800 to RMB 341,800.

The Neta GT is available in single-motor and dual-motor versions, with the single-motor version powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 170 kW.

Its dual-motor four-wheel drive version has a total maximum power of 340 kW and a maximum torque of 620 Nm, and takes 3.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

The Neta GT's battery pack has three options -- 64.24 kWh, 74.48 kWh and 77.9 kWh -- and the CLTC range includes three versions -- 560 km, 580 km and 660 km, as shown in previous regulatory filings.

Its power battery suppliers include , Eve Energy, and battery types include lithium iron phosphate batteries as well as ternary batteries.

Hozon Auto CEO Zhang Yong said previously that the sports car will be mass-produced and delivered in the first half of 2023.

Neta has been seen as a budget EV maker since its inception, as its vehicles are priced primarily for the low-end market.

Li Auto sold 6,300 units in the week of April 10 to April 16, far outpacing China's other new car-making brands, the automaker said in an April 19 post to its WeChat account.

Li Auto didn't say what the sales figure was based on, but it was apparently insurance registrations. Previously, we had access to the data every Tuesday, and Li Auto's practice was to share some of it on Wednesdays.

The main source that provides data on auto insurance registrations in China stopped sharing that data this month, but Li Auto continues to share some of it.

Tesla sold 12,500 units last week, according to the data table shared by Li Auto. Tesla's sales in the previous week were 6,973, according to data previously shared by Li Auto.

NIO sold about 700 units last week, according to the data. The electric vehicle maker sold 1,316 units in the previous week.

NIO's weak performance may be because it is on the eve of multiple product switches. It launched the new ET7 and unveiled the new ES6 on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, with deliveries both set to begin in May.

In addition to the new ET7 and the new ES6, NIO will also start delivering the EC7 coupe SUV in May and will start delivering the new ES8 in June, according to plans it previously annouced.

Among premium brands, BMW sold 14,500 cars last week including internal combustion engine vehicles as well as NEVs, Mercedes-Benz 13,400 and Audi 12,600, according to data shared by Li Auto.

Separately, retail sales of NEVs in China from April 1-16 were 223,000 units, up 89 percent year-on-year and up 13 percent from the same period last month, according to data released yesterday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Considering that NEV retail sales were 91,000 from April 1 to April 9, this means that during the week of April 10 to April 16, NEV retail sales in China were 132,000 units, up 45 percent from the previous week.

From April 10-16, retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China were 335,328 units, up 80 percent year-on-year and up 23 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

Starting this week, insurance registration data will no longer be available, with Li Auto's sharing a surprise exception.

The major sources that provide insurance registration data for China's auto industry have stopped sharing the data, but Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has shared content that allows us to still have access to some of the data.

For the week of April 3 to April 9, Li Auto sold 4,177 units, far outpacing other new car brands and again becoming the weekly sales leader for new brands in the Chinese market, the automaker said yesterday on Weibo.

Li Auto didn't specify what the sales figure was based on, though they were apparently insurance registrations. Previously, we had access to those numbers every Tuesday, and Li Auto's practice for the past two weeks has been to share some of them on Wednesdays.

The tables shared by the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) maker show that NIO (NYSE: NIO) vehicles had 1,316 insurance registrations last week, and (NYSE: XPEV) had 904.

Neta vehicles had 1,526 insurance registrations last week, Zeekr had 1,476 and Leapmotor had 1,157.

Li Auto's tables also provided insurance registrations for vehicles from luxury brands in China last week, with Mercedes-Benz in the top spot with 14,817, BMW in second with 13,506, and Audi in third with 10,573.

Tesla came in fourth with 6,973 units and Li Auto in fifth. Lexus was No. 9 with 1,493 units, and NIO was No. 10.

The vendor that provided us with the data said they will not be able to continue to provide such data, saying it was the decision of the data source.

The bloggers who previously shared the data on Weibo have also stopped sharing such data.

Neta unveils two-door electric sports car Neta GT, deliveries expected in H1

The GT, set for mass production and delivery in the first half of 2023, will be the first real sports car that young people in China can own, an executive previously said.

Neta Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) brand owned by Hozon Auto, has unveiled its first electric sports car, with deliveries expected to begin in the first half of the year.

Neta officially unveiled the Neta GT, a two-door, four-seat all-electric sports car that is its second model based on the Shanhai platform after its flagship sedan, the Neta S, at a launch event on the night of April 4.

The EV maker mentioned the name Neta E when it previewed the sports car late last year, but a month ago, it made the model's name official with the Neta GT.

The electric sports car measures 4,715 mm in length, 1,979 mm in width and 1,415 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

For comparison, the Neta S measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm.

The Neta GT will be available in single-motor and dual-motor versions, with the single-motor version having a maximum motor power of 170 kW and the dual-motor version having a maximum total power of 340 kW, as indicated by a previous regulatory filing.

Its power battery suppliers include CATL and Eve Energy, and the battery types include lithium iron phosphate batteries as well as ternary batteries.

Neta GT's battery pack has three options of 64.24 kWh, 74.48 kWh and 77.9 kWh, and the CLTC range includes 560 km, 580 km and 660 km.

Neta did not announce the official launch and delivery dates of the Neta GT, but last December 16, Hozon Auto CEO Zhang Yong said on Weibo that the model will be mass-produced and delivered in the first half of 2023.

Pricing information for the Neta GT is unknown, though Zhang previously said that the model would be the first true sports car that young people in China could own, suggesting that its price will likely be affordable.

The current starting price range for the Neta S flagship sedan is RMB 242,800 to RMB 341,800.
