NIO (NYSE: NIO) will officially launch the new ES6 SUV in China next Wednesday, and deliveries will begin the next day, making it the fastest model from launch to delivery.

The new ES6 will be officially launched on May 24, with test drives available on the same day and deliveries starting on May 25, the company announced today on its mobile app.

The model is available for pre-order now, and consumers who pay a RMB 5,000 ($720) pre-order deposit before its official launch and convert those payments into a non-refundable deposit by July 31 will receive a Moon-themed exterior package and orange caliper worth RMB 8,000 and NOP+ two years free access worth RMB 9,120.

NIO has not announced any more information about the new ES6 based on its latest NT 2.0 platform, and its pricing is expected to be known on May 24.

It is not clear whether NIO will hold an offline launch of the new ES6 or whether the model will be launched only at an online event.

NIO officially unveiled the 2023 ET7 sedan at a brief launch event on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, and allowed an improved version of the ES6 SUV based on the NT 2.0 platform to make its debut.

The older ES6 based on the NT 1.0 platform was previously offered in three versions -- Sport, Performance and Signature -- with starting prices of RMB 386,000, 426,000 and 496,000 respectively.

On May 11, NIO asked its community for opinions on the pricing of the new ES6, and a questionnaire at the time offered six options: under RMB 368,000, RMB 368,000, RMB 378,000, RMB 338,000, RMB 398,000, and above RMB 398,000.

For NIO, the new ES6 will be a model of strategic importance, as it will be the least expensive of NIO's SUVs. The move underscores the high hopes it has for the model's sales prospects.

From January to August 2022, 32,877 units of the ES6 were delivered, contributing 46 percent of NIO's total deliveries of 71,556 units for the period, according to figures monitored by CnEVPost from the company and the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The new ES6 is now widely seen as being powerfully equipped and competitively priced, which has sparked discontent among some owners who previously purchased the ES7 SUV.

Last month, several ES7 owners formed a WeChat group to collectively express their dissatisfaction that the upcoming new ES6 means NIO has betrayed them.

NIO's announcement today of the launch date for the new ES6 confirms a rumor from earlier this month.

Local auto industry media D1EV reported on May 4 that the new ES6 will be officially launched on May 24, and that show cars of the model will be available in NIO stores starting on the launch day.

Compared to the old ES6, the new model will retain only the Sport version, and the previously available higher-priced Performance and Signature versions have been optimized to become the new ES7 model currently on sale, the report said.

NIO asks its community for advice on pricing of new ES6

One possibility is that NIO may price the new ES6 at under RMB 368,000 and attribute the decision to the calls of its community.

NIO (NYSE: NIO) is asking its community in China for advice on the pricing of the new ES6, as the SUV gets closer to its official launch.

Many NIO App users have received a push message from NIO containing a questionnaire asking them to vote on what they think is a fair price for the new ES6, according to information shared by several auto bloggers on Weibo today.

NIO offered six options in the questionnaire: below RMB 368,000 ($53,020), RMB 368,000, RMB 378,000, RMB 388,000, RMB 398,000, and above RMB 398,000.

The all-new ES6 will be launched soon, and the model has received a lot of attention since its unveiling at the Shanghai auto show, NIO wrote in the questionnaire.

"Before we officially release the price, we would like to hear from our user friends about the price of the new ES6," NIO said.

The questionnaire is due by 18:00 Beijing time on May 13.

William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, launched the 2023 ET7 sedan and gave the debut of a revamped version of the ES6 SUV based on the NT 2.0 platform at a brief launch event on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18.

Li did not announce the new ES6's exact specifications or pricing at the time, saying only that the model's official launch would be in late May.

For reference, the older ES6 based on the NT 1.0 platform was previously offered in three versions -- Sport, Performance and Signature -- with starting prices of RMB 386,000, 426,000 and 496,000 respectively.

For NIO, the new ES6 will be a model of strategic importance, as it will be the least expensive of NIO's SUVs. The company's latest move underscores the high hopes it has for the model's sales prospects.

From January to August 2022, 32,877 units of the ES6 were delivered, contributing 46 percent of NIO's total deliveries of 71,556 units for the period, according to figures monitored by CnEVPost from the company and the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

It's worth noting that soliciting input for the pricing of new models is a rarity in the Chinese auto industry. For rational consumers, no one wants to see a high price for a product they want to buy.

NIO may have its own considerations with this move, and CnEVPost's speculation is that the company may price the new ES6 below RMB 368,000 and attribute the decision to the calls from its community.

The new ES6 is now generally seen as coming with strong features and competitive pricing, which have already sparked discontent among some owners who previously bought the ES7 SUV.

Last month, many ES7 owners formed WeChat groups to collectively express their discontent that the upcoming new ES6 means NIO has betrayed them.

NIO has yet to announce a launch date for the new ES6, although rumors last week suggested that the model would be officially launched on May 24.

NIO (NYSE: NIO) unveiled the new ES6 on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, but did not announce an official launch date or price. Now, a new report provides additional information.

The new ES6 will be officially launched on May 24, and its price information will be announced at that time, local auto industry media D1EV reported on Thursday after visiting several NIO stores in Beijing.

The model's show cars will be available at NIO stores from the day of launch, and consumers who have recently reserved the car will be invited to test drive it in batches, according to the report.

Compared to the old ES6, the new model will keep only in the Sport version, with the previously available higher-priced Performance and Signature versions optimized to become the new ES7 model currently on sale, the report said.

Deliveries of the new ES6 will begin at the end of May, the report said, citing salespeople at NIO stores.

William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, unveiled the 2023 ET7 sedan and gave the debut of the new ES6 SUV based on the NT 2.0 platform at a brief launch event on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18.

Li did not announce the SUV's exact specifications or pricing at the time, saying only that the model's official launch would be in late May.

Nevertheless, NIO has already started allowing consumers to reserve the model with a RMB 5,000 deposit.

In an interview with local media at the time, Li said that the delivery schedule for the new ES6 would be different from NIO's previous models and that deliveries would begin soon after the launch.

Pricing information for the new ES6 has not been released, and Li said in that interview that NIO would not engage in a price war, so the model's price would not be set particularly low.

For reference, the old ES6 based on the NT 1.0 platform was previously offered in three versions -- Sport, Performance and Signature -- with starting prices of RMB 386,000 ($55,840), 426,000 and 496,000 respectively.

For NIO, the new ES6 will be a model of strategic importance, as it will be the least expensive of NIO's SUVs.

From January to August 2022, 32,877 ES6 units were delivered, contributing 46 percent of NIO's total deliveries of 71,556 units during the period, according to figures monitored by CnEVPost from the company and the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Launched on June 15, 2022, the NIO ES7 is the company's second model based on the NT 2.0 platform and the first SUV on the second-generation platform.

The NIO ES7 is currently offered in two versions, priced at RMB 468,000 and 548,000 including the battery. If consumers choose to purchase using the battery rental service BaaS, the starting price is RMB 398,000.

NIO began deliveries of the ES7 on August 28, 2022, with a cumulative total of 15,123 units delivered by the end of January this year, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

The NIO ES7 is similar in appearance and key specifications to the new NIO ES8, but smaller in size and less expensive. Previously, the model that sits behind the flagship ES8 in NIO's product array was the ES6.

Although NIO has not released information on the specifications of the new ES6, a regulatory filing in January has revealed the core specifications of the model.

The new NIO ES6 measures 4,854 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,703 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.

For comparison, the old ES6 is smaller, measuring 4,850 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width and 1,758/1,731 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

The new ES6 will be equipped with dual motors supplied by NIO's motor division XPT, with a maximum power of 150 kW and 210 kW respectively, the same as the ET5 sedan.

This specification is lower than the motors of the ES7, which has dual motors with a maximum power of 180 kW and 300 kW, respectively.

The new ES6 will be a strategically important model for NIO (NYSE: NIO), and it has sparked complaints from ES7 owners ahead of its official launch.

Many ES7 owners recently formed WeChat groups in order to collectively protest to NIO that the automaker has betrayed them because the new ES6 will not only have lower prices, but also have competitive edges with their vehicles.

As background, the NIO ES7 was launched on June 15, 2022, and is the company's second model based on the NT 2.0 platform, and the first SUV on the second-generation platform.

The NIO ES7 is currently offered in two versions, priced at RMB 468,000 ($67,710) and 548,000 including the battery. If consumers choose to purchase using the battery rental service BaaS, the starting price is RMB 398,000.

NIO began deliveries of the ES7 on August 28, 2022, with a cumulative total of 15,123 units delivered by the end of January this year, according to data monitored by CnEVPost. Delivery figures for the model in February and March are not available.

The NIO ES7 is similar to the new NIO ES8 in appearance and key specifications, but is smaller in size and less expensive. Previously, the model that sits behind the flagship ES8 in NIO's product array was the ES6.

It is worth noting that the ES7 is not the NT 2.0 version of the old ES6. The old ES6, based on the NT 1.0 platform, was still on sale after the ES7 was released.

On April 18, NIO officially launched the 2023 ET7 sedan on the first day of the Shanghai auto show and unveiled the ES6.

Pre-orders for the new ES6 are already being taken, but the official launch will be in late May. William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, said the model will move quickly from official launch to delivery.

Although NIO has not yet announced the prices of the new ES6, the model is widely seen as starting at less than RMB 400,000, considering that the old ES6 previously had a starting price of RMB 386,000 including the battery.

The unveiling of the new ES6 has unexpectedly sparked discontent among many ES7 owners, who believe the upcoming SUV has a strong appeal but significantly lower prices, despite the ES7's stronger features and space.

These owners also believe that the ES7 uses many NT 1.0 platform components, while the new ES6, by contrast, uses all NT 2.0 platform components.

To calm the discontent of these ES7 owners, NIO held a communication meeting with them on April 27, with Li's personal participation.

However, a recording circulating on the Internet shows that the communication was inconclusive, and Li denied the owners' request for additional benefits, despite a lot of pressure from them.

Notably, on Weibo, a large number of users expressed support for Li, arguing that the owners' demands were unreasonable and that NIO should stick to its current stance.

NIO to launch new ET7 at Shanghai auto show besides new ES6

This is the first time has mentioned the existence of the new ET7, after rumors began to emerge last month.  |  NIO US | NIO HK | NIO SG

NIO (NYSE: NIO) will launch the new ET7 at the Shanghai auto show next week, in addition to the launch of the new ES6.

"At Auto Shanghai 2023, we are bringing the NIO House to the show floor once again," the electric vehicle (EV) maker announced today.

The full range of NIO models equipped with the Banyan intelligent system will be presented, the new ES6 will debut and the 2023 ET7 will be officially launched, NIO said.

Banyan is the software architecture for NIO's NT 2.0 platform-based models, and the company's NT 1.0 platform-based models use a software architecture called Aspen.

The upcoming biennial Shanghai auto show will be held from April 18-27, with press days from April 18-19, professional visitor days from April 20-21, and general public admission from April 22-27.

The show will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, and NIO's booth is located in Hall 6.1, Stand 6A01.

The N-Box augmented entertainment console and AR glasses developed by NIO will be equipped on the EC7 for the first time for the public to experience, according to the company.

This is the first time NIO has confirmed the existence of the new ET7, after rumors began to emerge last month.

At the end of last month, some local media reported that the current NIO ET7 had been discontinued and that the facelift would be optimized for exterior and interior details.

On March 28, an image circulating on social media Xiaohongshu showed that the 2023 ET7 will have a new gold exterior option and will be available with a tow hook option.

Inside, the improved ET7 will have several details optimized, including the seats, wireless charging panel power, and low-speed beep, according to the information in the image.

The NIO ET7 was launched at the NIO Day 2020 event on January 9, 2021, the company's first sedan, with deliveries beginning on March 28, 2022.

Deliveries of the ET7 remained around 3,000 units per month for the vast majority of the second half of last year, but the figures slipped to 1,379 units in December.

Regarding the new ES6, NIO mentioned on April 1 that the model will be unveiled at the Shanghai auto show.

Notably, like the ES7, which is known as the EL7 in Europe, the new ES6 will also be known as the new EL6 in international markets, according to a previous NIO press release.

NIO’s new ES6 to debut at Shanghai auto show later this month

will showcase six models based on the latest NT 2.0 platform at the Shanghai auto show, with the all-new ES6 making its debut.

NIO (NYSE: NIO) will have the facelift of its previously popular ES6 SUV unveiled at the Shanghai auto show later this month, marking the first time the company has unveiled a new model at an auto show.

The company will showcase six models based on its latest NT 2.0 platform at the Shanghai auto show, with the all-new ES6 making its debut, it said in a post announcing March delivery figures on its WeChat account.

The upcoming biennial Shanghai auto show will be held from April 18-27, with the press days from April 18-19 and the professional visitors' days from April 20-21, while the general public can visit from April 22-27.

NIO App is currently showcasing eight models, including the ES8, ES6 and EC6 based on the NT 1.0 platform, and the new ES8, ES7, EC7, ET7 and ET5 based on the NT 2.0 platform.

The EC7 and the new ES8 were launched at NIO Day 2022 on December 24, 2022, and deliveries are set to begin in May and June 2023, respectively.

NIO did not provide any further information on the new ES6, but the model has appeared in a regulatory catalog in China in January.

On January 11, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a list of models that will soon be allowed to be sold in China, and the new NIO ES6 was included.

The new NIO ES6 has a length, width and height of 4,854 mm, 1,995 mm and 1,703 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, according to the model's filing page.

The model's LiDAR and camera setup are in line with the other current NIO models based on the NT 2.0 platform. Its rear end also features a through-tail lamp design similar to the ET7, rather than the split design of the current model.

The new ES6 is something to look forward to, as its predecessor was NIO's cheapest SUV, contributing the most sales for the company in a very long time.

From January to August 2022, the ES6 delivered 32,877 units, contributing 46 percent of NIO's total deliveries of 71,556 units during that period, figures monitored by CnEVPost from the company as well as the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) show.
