's premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Denza released exterior images of its new SUV Denza N8 at the end of last month, and now a regulatory filing reveals its core specifications.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the latest batch of models to be allowed for sale in a catalog for public comment on April 11, and the Denza N8 was included.

The public can submit feedback on the catalog between April 12 and April 18. Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process for a model to be allowed to be sold in China.

There are four versions of the Denza N8 in the catalog, including a single-motor all-electric version, a dual-motor all-electric version, a DM-i plug-in hybrid version, and a DM-p plug-in hybrid version.

The single-motor all-electric version is equipped with a 230-kW peak power motor, and the dual-motor version has 230-kW and 200-kW peak power front and rear motors, respectively.

The Denza N8 hybrids are all equipped with a 1.5 T engine with a maximum power of 102 kW.

In terms of electric motors, the more fuel-efficient DM-i version has a 160-kW peak motor, while the more performance-oriented DM-p version has dual motors with 160 kW and 200 kW peak front and rear motors, respectively.

All four versions support a top speed of 190 km/h.

The model measures 4,949 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,830 mm.

Denza began warming up for the Denza N8 in early March, sharing several images of the model on Weibo at the end of March.

Denza was established in February 2011 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, each holding a 50 percent stake at the time. The Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz in February 2022.

BYD's stake in Denza increased to 90 percent last year, and Mercedes-Benz's stake decreased to 10 percent.

In August 2022, Denza lets the D9 MPV go on sale, the brand's first model after the re-branding. The Denza D9 began deliveries at the end of October last year.

Prior to the Denza N8, Denza was already warming up for another SUV, the Denza N7, which will be officially launched in the first half of the year.

There are many customers who want to get the Denza N7 released and launched as soon as possible, and based on inquiry volume data, the model is expected to get 30,000 orders before it goes on sale in the middle of the year, Zhao Changjiang, general manager of Denza's sales division, said on Weibo on March 26.

BYD aims to sell at least 3 million vehicles this year and strive to reach 3.6 million, the company's chairman and president Wang Chuanfu said late last month.

's premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Denza seems to be preparing to market two new SUVs in parallel.

Denza is already warming up for the new SUV, the Denza N8, as it just started intensive marketing on the Denza N7 earlier this month.

The brand shared several images of the Denza N8 on Weibo today, showing off the model's exterior design.

Denza didn't share anything else, but the information it released earlier this month suggests that the Denza N8 will carry over much of the design of the now-discontinued Denza X.

The Denza X measures 4,890 mm, 1,950 mm, 1,725 mm and has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The Denza N8 will be mid to large-size SUV that will be available in 5-, 6- and 7-seat versions, featuring the Denza family's new π-Motion design language, it said earlier this month.

On March 14, Denza released a video of one of the Denza N8's winter tests, showing a maximum charging power of 175 kW for the model's electric-only version and 90 kW for the plug-in hybrid version.

Denza was established in February 2011 as a 50-50 joint venture between BYD and Daimler, the first Sino-foreign joint venture in China to focus on NEVs. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz.

Last year, BYD's stake in Denza increased to 90 percent, and Mercedes-Benz's stake decreased to 10 percent.

In August 2022, Denza launched the D9 MPV, the brand's first model after its rebranding. The Denza D9 began deliveries at the end of October last year.

On March 6, Denza released several exterior images of the Denza N7 on Weibo.

On March 9, the Denza N7 appeared on a regulatory declaration list with a paging showing the car's length, width and height of 4,860 mm, 1,935 mm and 1,602 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm.

The Denza N7 has inspired a high level of enthusiasm, and with the announcement of Denza's partnership with French high-end audio brand Devialet on March 22, there have been particularly many inquiries from customers every day, said Zhao Changjiang, general manager of Denza's sales division, on Weibo on March 26.

Many customers want to have Denza N7 launched as soon as possible, and according to the inquiry volume data, the model is expected to get 30,000 orders before its launch in the middle of the year, Zhao said.

's premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Denza began intensive warm-up for the Denza N7 SUV earlier this month, and now an executive has expressed optimism for the model's future sales performance.

Denza N7 has inspired much enthusiasm, and with the announcement of Denza's partnership with French high-end audio brand Devialet on March 22, there were many customers inquiring every day, Zhao Changjiang, general manager of Denza's sales division, said on Weibo yesterday.

Many people want to get the Denza N7 launched as soon as possible, and according to the inquiry volume data, the model is expected to get 30,000 orders before its launch in the middle of the year, Zhao said.

Zhao said in February that the Denza N7 would be released in the first half of this year.

On March 6, Denza unveiled official exterior images of the Denza N7 on Weibo, showing that the model restores much of the design of the brand's concept car INCEPTION, which was unveiled at the Chengdu auto show on August 26, 2022.

On March 9, the Denza N7 appeared in a regulatory filing list, and its key specifications were revealed.

The Denza N7 has a length, width and height of 4,860 mm, 1,935 mm and 1,602 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,940 mm, according to the filing.

The model will be available in a single-motor version as well as a dual-motor version, with the former having a peak motor power of 230 kW and the latter having an additional motor with a peak power of 160 kW.

On December 20 last year, Zhao shared six spy photos of the SUV on Weibo, showing what the model might look like.

In the comments section of that Weibo, Zhao said the SUV aims to capture the market for traditional internal combustion engine cars priced around 400,000 yuan ($58,140).

In addition to mentioning his expectation of orders for the Denza N7 before its launch, Zhao also mentioned on Weibo yesterday that Denza will announce the look of another SUV, the N8, in the near future.

The Denza D9 has already been shown at the Thailand motor show and the MPV will be sold next in other regions including Hong Kong, Macau, and Europe for RMB 600,000-1 million, he said.

More Chinese EV makers promise no price cuts as price war intensifies consumer wait-and-see sentiment

EV makers including , and Denza have all introduced 90-day price protection policies.

As the auto price war in China continues, some electric vehicle (EV) makers are beginning to make it clear that they will not cut prices in an attempt to dispel the wait-and-see sentiment of potential consumers.

EV makers including Leapmotor, Neta and Denza have all introduced price protection policies, after (NASDAQ: LI) introduced a similar policy and (NYSE: NIO) made it clear that the company would not cut prices.

Leapmotor announced yesterday that for consumers who purchase any of its models during this month, they will get the difference back if the price drops within 90 days or if the company offers additional cash discounts.

This is in line with a policy introduced earlier this week by Li Auto, whose salespeople said it was designed to make clear to consumers that its models would not be reduced in price.

Neta, Hozon Auto's EV brand, announced today that consumers who order its flagship sedan, the Neta S, by April 30 will not have to worry about the model's price dropping within 90 days.

If the price of the model drops within 90 days of the consumer's purchase, Neta will refund the difference.

Notably, along with the announcement of the price protection policy, Neta began offering an RMB 23,000 ($3,340) discount for the lowest-priced model of the Neta S, bringing the model's starting price down to RMB 179,800 from the previous RMB 202,800, valid until the end of April 30.

Neta models on sale also include the Neta V and Neta U, which start at less than RMB 150,000 and are not covered by its price protection policy.

Denza, 's premium brand, announced that if consumers who purchase its vehicles during the month see a drop in official guide prices will receive a rebate for the difference.

Auto and Volvo Car's jointly held Lynk & Co brand also began offering a 90-day price protection policy that expires on April 30.

The increasing number of car companies joining the price war has led to an increased wait-and-see mood among consumers to avoid seeing price cuts soon after purchasing a car.

An NIO executive said yesterday that they noticed Li Auto's move and the company had considered whether to issue a similar policy.

But for NIO, it has previously made it clear that prices will not be lowered, the company's assistant vice president of sales operations Pu Yang said at a media event yesterday, adding that NIO is not only not cutting prices for 90 days, but prices will not change for a longer period of time.
